Christmas Moments

“This year I am well prepared. All the gifts are handmade with love, wrapped, and on the way to the family and friends. The whole house is clean and looks like a perfect winter wonderland. The air smells of gingerbread and you can just cuddle in the chair with hot chocolate while listening to the carols.“

Perhaps there is a parallel reality, where a well-organized version of me is enjoying picture-perfect holidays. But in this reality, it is certainly not the case. How are the holidays for you? If you can relate to being stressed, putting yourself under pressure, and feeling generally overwhelmed (even if objectively you don’t have a legitimate reason to be) then…

Welcome! I have a little present for you!

Sometimes it is so good to hear things we already know from someone else. Here it is - Take a little, simple, short moment for yourself and enjoy it. Do you like a cup of tea? Do you like to listen to your favorite song? Anything really, to bring yourself back to presence and enjoy it.

A few days ago I caught myself panicking as I felt I can’t get anything done. The more I saw people sharing online their decorations, their recipes, their lovely stories, the deeper I was falling. My doctor calls it ruminating - in short - falling into a cycle of one thought (usually negative or sad) for “too long”. This time I managed to quickly stop myself with a little thing that I would like to share with you.

Christmas decoration tip

All you need is:

  • cardboard - you can use an old box from your last order :)

  • pencil

  • scissors

  • cookie cutter (optional) - you can draw any shape you like without using precise forms.

  • white marker - could be also a white pencil. You can also use Tipp-ex or white washi tape

And then all you need to do is draw a shape of the house, tree, or star (or any shape you like really) to be a paper gingerbread which you can decorate with a white marker. And voila, you have a simple decoration for your door, wall, or Christmas tree.

Soothing tunes

My favorite playlist this time of the year is Christmas Classics on Spotify. Just for a short nap with my dog on the couch or while baking.

Sometimes it suits the soul more to listen just to tunes and that’s when I would recommend pure instrumental version of the classics, for example Christmas Instrumental Songs playlist on Spotify.
